CIRCLES is a radical-reading group that unapologetically holds space for healing and emotional development surrounding cultural, historical and identity issues resulting from colonization. With intentionality, we create open dialogue that fosters solidarity among Indigenous peoples of the Americas and Black communities living in the city and build new practices while honoring the work of our ancestors and past movements of liberation.
CIRCLES is organized into three phases. The first phase is a Study Circle where we explore text from Colonization and Decolonization – A Manual for Indigenous Liberation in the 21st Century. The second phase, we convene for a series of gatherings where we envision other forms of radical-reading circles. The third phase, we co-lead new circles. Our goal is to raise solidarity between these communities that speak specifically to our need for decolonization and reconstruction.
We read Colonization and Decolonization – A Manual for Indigenous Liberation in the 21st Century written and illustrated by Zig-Zag. This manual is divided into four sections, allot 2 hours for each section.
